Hip Hop Artist Kanye West Announces PRESIDENTIAL Campaign

In another instance of “what has the world come to?” American hip hop artist Kanye West seems to be running for presidency in the 2020 election.

Arguably one of the most controversial musical artists, West recently posted on Twitter that he will be running for President of the United States on Saturday morning.

“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States! #2020VISION.”

To further add to the oddity of it all, Wealthy eccentric Elon Musk responded, showing his full support to the artist.

Let’s Break This Down

This isn’t just some random celebrity saying they’ll run for president. West has a history of political involvement, though in an unorthodox way. During the 2016 election, West stated that he intends to run for president in 2020.

Over the next four years, West would surprise the masses by visiting and siding with president Donald Trump, a rather unpopular decision among the black and hip hop community. He has confirmed his allegiance to Trump in the past, one of many recent remarks that have upset his general fanbase.

Now West has returned to supposedly make true on their promise to run for election this year. But they’re making the decision rather late, with the election only four months away.

The oddity behind this whole situation has led to the growth of a few common theories:

  1. Kanye West has a new musical album planned soon and is generating controversy to gain attention.
  2. Kanye is conspiring with Donald Trump in an attempt to “steal” votes from black communities away from Joe Biden to better Trump’s chances at re-election.

So is West serious? Honestly, we don’t know. What we are certain of is that America is still in a very weird place right now, a place that has allowed things like this to grow to fruition enough that we aren’t really sure what would happen. Ten years ago, I’d have never guessed that we’d be where we are now. We don’t think that West would actually achieve presidency, but at this point, we aren’t fully doubting that he would try.
